Systemic Evaluation of Education System

Systemic Evaluation refers to the determination of the extent to which the education system achieves set social, economic and transformational goals, through the measurement of learner performance. At the same time, it also considers the context in which teaching and learning occur.

The implementation of a new Systemic Evaluation model to replace the Annual National Assessment (ANA) has been approved after consultation with teacher unions. The Department of Basic Education will run a pilot in October 2018 with a sample of 10 schools. The intention is that, following the pilot programme, the new Systemic Evaluation model will be implemented in 2019.
